Angama Safari Camp

Rift Valley Hike

For those wanting to stretch their legs, a hiking safari up the Oloololo Escarpment is an exciting and challenging way to explore this historically significant geographical feature. As you ascend, expert rangers from the Mara Conservancy will not only ensure your safety but also share some stories of their many exciting hours out in the Mara Triangle. Panoramic views and a light refreshment awaits you at the top, making the steep climb well worth the effort and something very few guests to the Mara Triangle get to experience.

What You Need to Know

As walking safaris in the Mara Triangle are not allowed, this is a rare opportunity to explore this untouched part of the park on foot

Along the way, hikers can spot a wonderful variety of birds and other animals so don’t forget your binoculars (or sturdy shoes)

With the accompaniment of Rangers from the Mara Conservancy and a Maasai Naturalist from Angama Mara, hikers will gain a wealth of natural knowledge

This is a strenuous walk that is almost entirely up and downhill but frequent breaks are enjoyed throughout the hike as well as refreshments at the top

Note: This unique activity is available for those staying at Angama Safari Camp at the Kampi ya Mungu, Kishangaa and Kijito campsites, bookable through your Camp Host
