The Finer Details

At Angama Mara there are no costs attached to venue hire. Our wedding party guests simply pay for their accommodation. For sole-use of a guest area for the reception, guests will need to reserve one or both camps for their wedding. Our standard wedding set up includes:

Up to 60 white chairs for the ceremony

A table covered in a white table cloth as an altar

An officiant from our staff

15 Maasai warriors or maidens

Sparkling wine, drinks and bitings at the ceremony

At the wedding feast the tables in the guest area are set with handsome copper under plates, candles and flowers

East African Honeymoons

After a beautiful wedding at Angama Mara, what better way to ease into married life than barefoot luxury on one of the Indian Ocean’s many beach destinations and private islands.

All You Need to Know

Which Legal Documents Do I Need?

Weddings at Angama Mara will not be an official marriage. You are advised to be married in your home country before or after coming to Kenya.

How Many Guests Do We Need to Have a Wedding at Angama Mara?

Angama Mara offers weddings for 30 guests, or 60 guests (the bridal couples has to take either one or both camps – both of which are identical). Alternatively, if you would prefer a private affair with just yourselves and a few guests, that too is possible.

Photographer and Videographer

Angama Mara works with professional photographers and videographers based in Nairobi. Please contact us to discuss the options available.

Can You Work With My Wedding Planner?

Should you like to work with a wedding planner, we ask that the Angama Mara team sets up a call with them prior to the wedding to explain the advantages and limitations to a destination wedding in the middle of the Maasai Mara.

What About the Wedding Cake?

The pastry team have perfected a beautiful signature wedding cake – a Persian Love Cake. The rose-scented cake is the softest chiffon with pops of cardamom and saffron cream – the rose and the spices having a very strong connection to Kenya which is one of the world’s biggest rose exporters, as well as influences from the coastal Swahili culture and flavours. Set on a marble cake stand and adorned with fresh roses, the Angama wedding cake is displayed in the guest area awaiting the couple’s arrival.

Can You Source My Flowers?

Flowers can be sourced on request, as well as rose petals. Certain flowers hold up to the African sun better than others, and the Angama team can guide you on the best options.

What If It Rains?

Angama’s Chapel is a beautiful wet weather option that can be kept as a standby alternative should it rain on the day.

Can We Have Music at the Reception?

Please note that while all weddings require at least one of Angama Mara’s camps to be booked exclusively, sound does travel across the Great Rift Valley and as such, music at wedding receptions is limited to a small speaker and until a reasonable hour. Should a wedding of both camps (60 guests) be booked, the music may be played at your discretion.

Can You Arrange My Honeymoon?

Whether you prefer the beach, or some more time in the bush, our Angama Safaris team of knowledgeable East Africa specialists are standing by to help you plan the perfect honeymoon.
