The team at the safari lodge loves nothing more than planning memorable weddings – always beautifully simple with hints of Maasai culture, overflowing with Kenya’s world-famous roses and views over Africa so wide that your guests will be overwhelmed by the splendour of it all.

We look forward to creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Where to say ‘I do’

A choice of settings

The Out of Africa Saddle

Probably the most iconic wedding setting at Angama Mara, our Out of Africa Saddle brings together the romance from the film with the dramatic views of the Reserve below. Here, the bridal couple can choose to exchange their vows in the middle of nowhere with nothing but chairs, flowers, a table and the endless African sky overhead.

Quick facts:

  • Suitable for 30 – 60 guests
  • Best in the late afternoon
  • Ideal for Maasai wedding entourage

The Shamba

Angama’s one-acre Shamba is a garden unlike any other. A joyful stroll along the winding pathways down to a deck canopied under two huge moth trees where the Shamba wedding ceremony takes place.

Quick facts:

  • Suitable for 10 – 30 guests
  • A magical garden setting with views of the Mara
  • Perfect for intimate weddings

The Chapel

Hidden away in the heart of the property and just next to the Shamba sits the Angama Chapel – a beautiful non-denominational Maasai brick and stained glass building that serves as a place of peace and comfort.

Quick facts:

  • Suitable for 30 – 60 guests
  • Perfect wet weather option
  • Beautiful when filled with flowers and candles

The Reception

After the ceremony, drinks, bitings and photographs, it is time to head back to one of Angama’s guest areas to celebrate the exchanging of vows. The guest area is the most beautiful location for your wedding feast. Long tables laden with fresh flowers and candles cast a warm glow over the elegant copper and brassware.

TWO WEDDING OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM

A Classic Wedding

Many brides dream of their classical white wedding dress framed against a dramatic sky. With Angama Mara’s breathtaking views of the Mara Reserve, there are a multitude of settings as a backdrop to your elegant safari white wedding.

Surrounded by unspoilt nature and your loved ones, this must be one of the most romantic settings in the world from which to begin your beautiful journey as a married couple.

A Traditional Maasai Blessing

Maasai Blessings can be performed for either newlyweds or vow renewals and are held at sunset in either our traditional Maasai Boma or Shamba.

This very special ceremony begins with the couple, dressed in traditional Maasai attire, arriving at their blessing accompanied by Maasai warriors and maidens. After a traditional performance of song and dance, the Maasai elder will bless the couple.

CAN YOU WORK WITH MY WEDDING PLANNER?

WHAT ABOUT THE WEDDING CAKE?

The pastry team have perfected a beautiful signature wedding cake – a Persian Love Cake. The rose-scented cake is the softest chiffon with pops of cardamom and saffron cream – the rose and the spices having a very strong connection to Kenya which is one of the world’s biggest rose exporters, as well as influences from the coastal Swahili culture and flavours. Set on a marble cake stand and adorned with fresh roses, the Angama wedding cake is displayed in the guest area awaiting the couple’s arrival.
