Stay
The Property
The lodge’s remarkable setting overlooks what many safari travellers deem the finest game reserve on the continent, the Maasai Mara. Angama Mara’s tented suites stretch out over two kopjes, the third being the site where many memorable scenes from Out of Africa were filmed.
Tented Suites
Guests are accommodated in spacious Tented Suites designed for comfort and reminiscent of a classical African safari, each with its own lovely view. Every detail has been considered: glass frontage, sweeping canvas, decks overhanging the Mara and gorgeous furniture.
Guest Areas
The lodge consists of two separate and intimate camps, each with its own guest area. The dramatic architecture is inspired by the old-world atmosphere of Nairobi’s famous Muthaiga Club. Guests dine, read, relax, and enjoy a drink in a place where indoors and outdoors merge into one.
Safari Camp
Deep in the heart of the Mara lies a sole-use tented camp accommodating just eight guests in four ensuite tents, entirely separate from the lodge. This lovely camp captures the romance and adventure of the Golden Age of safaris, yet with a lightness of spirit that will delight guests.
Angama Amboseli
An intimate lodge of just 10 suites in a private sanctuary, renown for its density and diversity of wildlife. Set against the famed backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, here is where some of Africa’s last Super Tuskers roam.

East African Safaris
Maasai Mara
Situated in the heart of East Africa, the Maasai Mara needs no introduction as the loveliest game reserve in Africa. Host to the Great Migration and with exceptional, year-round game-viewing, no safari to East Africa is complete without a visit to the Mara.
Nairobi
Kenya’s capital of Nairobi is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city – whether you’re spending just a night before venturing onwards or staying longer, there is plenty to explore, from artisan coffee roasteries to stylish boutiques and so much more.
North
Travel north of the Maasai Mara to private ranches with pioneering conservation programmes and jaw-dropping landscapes best explored by helicopter. Here you will discover flamingo-covered lakes, dramatic landscapes and ancient cultures.
South
Travel south of the Maasai Mara to the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s northern circuit. With open plains and incredible game-viewing, the Serengeti is home to the calving season and is part of the Migration route.
East
Travel east of the Maasai Mara for incredible views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s largest tuskers and spoil yourself pre- or post-safari on one of the Indian Ocean’s many iconic beach destinations with warmer climates and incredible coral reefs.
West
Travel west of the Maasai Mara to the land of Great Apes, trekking up dormant volcanoes through impenetrable forest for once-in-a-lifetime encounters with endangered mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and the elusive golden monkey.

About
Team
Angama staff members are chosen because they love being of service to others – Kenyans have this deep in their DNA. The staff village was built with the same attention to detail as the guest accommodation. Angama Mara takes care of our staff, and the staff takes care of our guests.
Founders
Renowned in the industry for their involvement in some of the world’s finest safari lodges, husband and wife Steve & Nicky Fitzgerald saved their best for last. After delighting travellers for over 40 years, the beauty of the Angama Mara’s location drew them out of retirement.
Creators
Architects Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, and interior designer Annemarie Meintjes pushed every boundary while bringing Angama Mara to life. The goal was to find a balance between a fresh approach to lodge design and staying true to what guests expect when going on safari.
Foundation
Funded by nightly contributions from Angama guests, the Angama Foundation focuses on Education, Healthcare and Conservation, and projects are identified with the lodge’s neighbouring communities, the Mara Conservancy, and NGOs who make an impact in the area.
