Angama’s contemporary design breaks away from the traditional safari style — from Angama Mara, balanced on the rim of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, to the intimate tented Safari Camp down in the heart of the Mara, and the elephant-inspired Angama Amboseli tucked into the jewelbox of Kimana Sanctuary.
The lodge’s remarkable setting overlooks what many safari travellers deem the finest game reserve on the continent, Kenya’s Maasai Mara. The Tented Suites stretch out over two kopjes on the edge of the escarpment. The third kopje is immediately recognisable as the site where many of the most memorable scenes from Out of Africa were filmed. Angama Mara’s architecture is filled with drama, the red brickwork inspired by local Maasai dwelling finishes.
Guests are accommodated in spacious Tented Suites, which have been designed for guests’ comfort and are reminiscent of a classical African safari, each with a view as lovely as the next. Every detail has been considered: end-to-end glass frontage, sweeping canvas, decks overhanging the Mara and inside – polished parquet floors and just the right amount of furniture.
Set within a Fever Tree Forest in the heart of Kimana Sanctuary, this intimate lodge is the perfect start or finish to any East African safari.
With the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, the views — with the peace and quiet of the Sanctuary — are bound to leave guests feeling like they’ve found their very own haven.
In true Angama fashion, the 10 Guest Suites are a contemporary take on African design, with a mix of canvas, concrete and rattan with earthy, neutral colours.
Inspired by the two giants that call it home, the design has the shape and colours of the Super Tuskers, elephants with tusks so big they drag along the ground as they roam, as well as unobstructed views of the beautiful giant that is Mount Kilimanjaro.
Deep in the heart of the Mara, amongst the spectacle of the Great Migration, this one-of-a-kind camp captures the romance and adventure of the Golden Age of safaris. With only four lovely en-suite tents, you will feel as if you have the Mara all to yourself.
Accommodating up to eight guests, this intimate camp is the perfect setting for families and friends to relax and unwind with a G&T, listening to the sounds of the Mara all around them. At night, there is nothing better than sitting by the fire and sharing stories under the star-lit sky.
