Many things have influenced my life over the years, but right before finishing high school, I remember attending my first funeral where we said goodbye to a childhood friend. At the funeral service, I remember reading her eulogy, unable to look past the illness that took her life — a throat swelling that had worsened over time. It shook me, and I felt compelled to understand what had caused it, triggering my desire to be a clinical officer. I developed an effortless desire for sciences and ended up doing all the three (chemistry, biology and physics). People or experiences leave a mark, it's upon us to heal and shape our lives on those marks left.
